AfriForum branch in Ottosdal cuts three hectares of grass in March
The AfriForum branch in Ottosdal undertook various clean-up projects during March to get the town back into good condition. The branch cut open a total of three large empty plots, cut the sidewalks on both sides of Emcasa in Vermaas Street to the Hervormde Kerk in Bokkie Human Street and is also currently busy mowing the grass of a large open field in the town. Finally in March, more than three hectares of grass were cut and 10 bags of rubbish removed.
The mowing of the empty plots not only serves as a grass cutting project, but also helps to increase safety in the town. Criminals regularly use the long grass and shrubs as hiding places to carry out their crimes, which is why the branch first tackled these projects in an attempt to combat crime.
The cutting of sidewalks is also an important project as the community uses the sidewalks every day to walk. Clean sidewalks also create a cleaner and tidier environment.
“The AfriForum branch in Ottosdal was reorganised earlier this year with the new management literally and figuratively not letting grass grow under their feet. The branch is working hard to renovate Ottosdal and create a better town for everyone,” says Jp Nel, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for Stellaland.
