Vryburg now cleaner, neater thanks to AfriForum branch
The AfriForum branch in Vryburg worked hard during March to make Vryburg a cleaner and tidier town for all residents. The branch cut more than 1.5 hectares of grass in the town.
The branch cut grass at at least four vacant lots on Sable Street, Springbok Road and Blesbok Road and also cut a large area of grass along Sable Street, which is used by pedestrians.
The grass at the concentration camp cemetery and the local park were also cut again. The park is a popular playground for children in the area and therefore it is important that this park is clean and tidy.
“Children need to have a safe, clean environment where they can play and that is precisely why the Vryburg branch makes sure every month that the grass is neatly cut and rubbish is picked up,” says Jp Nel, AfriForum’s district coordinator for Stellaland.
Nel adds that the branch’s involvement with the concentration camp cemetery also aims to help preserve heritage. “The branch has been responsible for maintaining the park and cemetery for more than five years. The branch is making a real difference in the community and would like to encourage the community to join hands and work together on projects like this,” concludes Nel.
