Springs branch cleans up local park after widespread littering

After Heritage Day, members of AfriForum’s Springs branch noticed that George Sutter Park, that is maintained by the branch, had been strewn with large amounts of litter. The branch immediately deployed the necessary manpower to clean the area and removed a total of 14 bags of rubbish during the clean-up operation. The branch also pruned trees around the duck pond and removed nearly a full load of garden refuse.

These activities form part of AfriForum’s Springs branch’s ongoing involvement in maintaining the local environment.

“We believe that a clean and well-maintained environment has a direct impact on a community’s sense of pride and safety. When public spaces are neglected, it ultimately affects everyone. AfriForum therefore tries to do its part by taking practical action to improve the environment,” says Petro Kirton, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Springs branch.

The branch is calling on residents to help protect their local public spaces by disposing of litter properly and reporting any further maintenance issues.
