The Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality is crumbling before our eyes – and residents are paying the price.  

More than R1,6 billion’s worth of water had been lost over the past five years due to leakages and poor maintenance. This is money from taxpayers’ pockets, while basic services are increasingly declining.

Residents have to put up with

• no dependable refuse removal.
• refuse trucks that are stationary because there is no diesel.
• uncontrolled and unsafe landfills.
• roads littered with potholes that damage vehicles.
• parks and public spaces that are neglected for months at a time.

Moreover, Mangaung’s 2024/2025 annual report points to continuing irregular, fruitless and wasteful expenses.

And yet, Sello More, the Municipal Manager, increased his salary in 2024 with more or less R700 000 for “excellent performance.”

This is unacceptable!
