No STOP to AfriForum in Volksrust!
AfriForum’s Volksrust branch is forging ahead at full speed with its stop sign project in this town. Over the past month, the branch has repaired or replaced no less than 11 stop signs. This brings the total number of stop signs repaired by the branch in Volksrust over the past year to 56.

Smit Street was the branch’s focus this past month, with eleven signs replaced at the intersections of this major access road with Monument, Adelaide Tambo, De Kock, Pendoring, Knoppiesdoring, Krinkhout, and Tontelbos Streets. A stop sign was also erected at the entrance to the Green Acres complex on Smit Street.
According to Johan Kennard, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Volksrust branch, this project is making a huge difference in the town. “Every stop sign repaired or erected through this project leads to improved road safety for both motorists and pedestrians,” says Kennard.
The branch will also soon launch its pothole repair project. Lou Duvenhage, the branch member leading this initiative, maintains that the project is critically important, as Volksrust residents have long struggled with the poor condition of the town’s roads.
“By joining forces, we can start restoring the town. If residents pay for the asphalt, AfriForum can provide the labour and ensure the work is carried out using the correct methods,” explains Duvenhage.
The community is encouraged to get involved in this project today. Contact Lou Duvenhage via WhatsApp at 082 928 1220.
