Entrepreneur shares business philosophies with Pretoria business owners

Starting a business is not difficult; the most important things are to plan well, possess perseverance, and consistently focus on taking the right actions. This is some of the advice that Jandré de Beer, a seasoned entrepreneur and owner of V8 Marketing, shared with business owners this week during an AfriForum Sakenetwerk event at Kapstadt Brauhaus in Centurion.

De Beer further addressed members of the Business Network’s Pretoria branch regarding the challenges and joys associated with being a business owner. Among other things, he said that business owners should not view failures as errors on their part, but rather see them as opportunities to learn and emerge stronger in the future.

“Sometimes your product is fantastic, it is priced right, and you are 100% aligned with the task, but the available market segment is simply too small. Then you have to adapt,” says De Beer.

He added that marketing is a crucial component of any business and that the most important cost in any business is the cost of converting a customer into one who returns time and again.

Dinah Kloppers, owner of Oh my Fudge and a member of the Pretoria Business Network branch, feels that this event reassured her as a business owner. “It made me realize once again that every business owner faces the same challenges and that the most important thing is to focus on viewing mistakes as an opportunity to learn and grow.”

AfriForum Sakenetwerk hosts various events like this throughout the year that are free for Business Network members. Keep an eye on the AfriForum Sakenetwerk website for future events or send an email to sakenetwerk@afriforum.co.za for more information.
