Alberton branch uses 475 kg of tar to tackle potholes in Mayberry Park

The AfriForum Alberton branch used 475 kg of tar on Saturday morning (19 September) to repair two large potholes at the corner of Horn and Koorsboom streets in Mayberry Park.

A total of 19 bags of tar were used to fill the potholes properly. The larger of the two potholes required 13 bags of tar, while the remaining six bags were used to repair the smaller pothole.

The project forms part of the Alberton branch’s ongoing focus on addressing visible service-delivery problems in the community and promoting residents’ safety. Potholes can not only cause damage to vehicles but also pose a safety risk to motorists and other road users.

“We believe that a safe and well-maintained neighbourhood starts with residents and community organisations that are willing to take responsibility and make a practical difference. Our AfriForum team volunteered their time on Saturday morning to tackle these potholes, and we are proud to make a tangible difference in Mayberry Park,” says Clifford Smith, chairperson of the AfriForum Alberton branch.

The Alberton branch will continue to identify infrastructure problems reported by residents and address them where possible, while also reporting these problems through the appropriate municipal channels.
