AfriForum neighbourhood team prioritises road safety in Vryburg
AfriForum’s Vryburg neighbourhood team has undertaken several projects over the past few weeks aimed at improving the safety of the town and the roads that are used daily by the community.
During this period, the branch cleared more than 1,5 hectares of grass on vacant plots and open areas between residential neighbourhoods. The dense vegetation is often used by criminals as cover to hide. Last week, the neighbourhood team also completed a project at Vryburg Primary School, where potholes on the school grounds were repaired. More than one ton of gravel was used to restore the damaged roads, making them safe and accessible for teachers, staff and other visitors once again.
“These projects form part of the Vryburg branch’s ongoing commitment to making a tangible difference in the community. AfriForum does not merely want to respond to problems but to act proactively in creating a better environment for everyone. The neighbourhood team plays a vital role in these projects and enables the branch to tackle several initiatives simultaneously,” says JP Nel, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for Stellaland.
AfriForum’s Vryburg neighbourhood team has completed several projects this year and plans to do even more in the future to improve the town, including the installation of new stop signs. Although the neighbourhood team’s monthly operating costs amount to thousands of rands, the support of the community enables it to continue making Vryburg a town of which everyone can be proud.
