AfriForum branch in Viljoenskroon repairs 43 potholes in streets around high school

The AfriForum branch in Viljoenskroon in January repaired 43 potholes in Viljoen and Kerk Streets, which are located around Hoërskool Salomon Senekal, after this section of the road was almost impassable. A total of 40 bags of tar were used, which means that one ton of tar was removed from these two streets alone. The cost of the project amounted to R3 880.

“The Moqhaka Local Municipality is abandoning the residents of Viljoenskroon, who are also the taxpayers. Fortunately, it is not in our nature to live like this and there are funds from our members in Viljoenskroon to use for improvements in and around the town. However, we must not stop applying pressure on the Municipality to do what they are paid to do,” says Alta Pretorius, AfriForum’s district coordinator for the Mooi River.

“We focused on the streets surrounding the high school, which the parents must use to get to the school. However, these streets are in a deplorable condition, which is why professional intervention from the Municipality is still needed,” says Attie Barnard, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Viljoenskroon branch.
