Uitsig neighbourhood watch and others improve road safety at Onze Rust Primary School

AfriForum’s Uitsig neighbourhood watch worked with various AfriForum branches, volunteers and other organisations to undertake a renovation initiative at the Onze Rust Primary School in Bloemfontein on 14 March. During this action, road markings were painted at the school to make the area safer for learners, parents and motorists.

Clear road markings are important for road safety, especially in areas where children use the road daily to get to school.

This action was undertaken in collaboration with, among others, AfriForum Youth, the AfriForum911 response unit, AfriForum Dienste, Mata Security, VR Med and Fire Ops SA (Bloemfontein).

“When communities, safety organisations and volunteers work together, tangible improvements can be made in our environment. Actions like this show that we don’t have to wait for change, we are a community that makes a difference ourselves, especially when it comes to the safety of our children,” says Christo Groenewald, AfriForum’s district coordinator in Bloemfontein.

AfriForum would like to thank every organisation and volunteer who made their time, energy and resources available to make this project possible. “This type of collaboration plays a key role in creating safer environments for children and communities. Together, communities can build safer spaces and a hopeful future,” concludes Groenewald.
