Semi-Soet – die musiekblyspel is affordable entertainment for the whole family
It is common that when economic hardships hit entertainment is often the first area in which people cut back on planned spending, particularly when there is a whole family to pay for. However, with the announcement that Semi-Soet – die musiekblyspel will return to the stage in September, there is no need to remove entertainment from the family budget. An affordable entertainment option is now available that offers something for everyone: a healthy dose of humour, original music, beautiful romance and an infectious energy.
AfriForum and Inhoud Huis Musiek, with the support of RSG and kykNET, are bringing Bobby van Jaarsveld – and his Speedo – and Anel Alexander back to reprise their respective roles as JP and Jaci in the new run of Semi-Soet – die musiekblyspel. This time, the production will play-out on one of South Africa’s largest stages: the Teatro at Montecasino.
When the production sold out night after night during its eight-week run at AfriForum Teater in 2025, it became clear that it was something truly special. Theatregoers could not stop talking about how this unique production had made them laugh. For this very reason, the well-known theatre and music personalities, choreographers and award-winning production team behind Semi-Soet – die musiekblyspel are ready to give audiences another opportunity to enjoy the production with their loved ones.
According to Anel Alexander, who plays Jaci van Jaarsveld in both the film and the musical, this is what theatre is all about for her: giving people a break from their stressful lives. “A moment when you can come together with your friends and family and laugh until you cry.”
Whether you have watched the film ten times, experienced the production during its 2025 run, or are hearing about Semi-Soet – die musiekblyspel for the first time, the memorable music by Johan Voster and Jacomien de Wet, together with the brilliant performances of beloved characters by an entirely new generation of actors, means that this is a run not to be missed.
To ensure that the whole family can enjoy the production, a special offer will be available for all weekday performances. Every seat in the auditorium will be available for only R250 per person. Tickets can be purchased at www.semisoetmusiekblyspel.co.za. Book early and make Semi-Soet – die musiekblyspel an unforgettable family outing where everyone can relax, laugh and forget the stresses of everyday life.
