Ottosdal branch working hard to improve the conditions of this town

The AfriForum branch in Ottosdal has launched a major clean-up project over the past two and a half weeks to improve the condition of the town and reinforce the safety of the area. The branch cut the grass of seven large empty plots, removed branches and cut open shrubs so that criminals cannot hide in them.

More than four hectares of grass were cut during this period and even members of the community stepped in to help with the project. A farmer in the Ottosdal area made his tractor available to help with the cleaning of the plots. Furthermore, the branch also cut the grass on sidewalks and removed more than 10 bags of garbage.

“It is wonderful to see how the community is joining hands and working together to bring their town back up to standard. AfriForum’s Ottosdal branch believes in doing the hard work itself when local municipalities fail to fulfil their constitutional duties, therefore this branch simply could not sit back and allow the town to deteriorate further. The branch is planning several other major projects to make Ottosdal the proud town it once was,” says JP Nel, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for Stellaland.

AfriForum’s Ottosdal branch would like to encourage the community to get involved in projects and work together towards a better Ottosdal. Get involved with AfriForum’s structures today to help improve and secure your environment. Click here for more information.
