AfriForum’s Theewaterskloof branch continues community projects in Bot River

AfriForum’s Theewaterskloof branch continued its maintenance efforts in Bot River during July after poor municipal service delivery resulted in the basic upkeep of public spaces being neglected. Volunteers trimmed and removed overhanging tree branches in the town centre, including at the Bot River railway station, as part of the branch’s ongoing efforts to keep Bot River clean, tidy and safe.

“The branch’s self-help initiatives are aimed at making a tangible difference in the town. Although it is not the community’s responsibility to take over municipal duties, residents also cannot stand by and watch their environment deteriorate,” says Carel Kriel, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Theewaterskloof branch.

AfriForum’s Theewaterskloof branch will continue to undertake regular community projects in Bot River, including grass-cutting and maintenance projects. The branch also calls on residents to get involved and work together to keep the town tidy and liveable, while continuing to put pressure on the municipality to fulfil its constitutional obligations.
