AfriForum produces six more VOLK instructors in the southern region

AfriForum’s Community Safety division trained a further six new Voluntary Training Corps (VOLK) shooting instructors this past weekend. This brings AfriForum’s number of shooting instructors in the southern region, which includes the Western and Eastern Cape, to 56.

The course was presented with great success this past Saturday and Sunday at AfriForum’s Community Safety Centre in Durbanville. The course was presented by Johan Crous, AfriForum’s Safety Coordinator for the Eastern and Western Cape, and brought together participants from various regions. Four of the participants are affiliated with AfriForum’s Paarl branch, one with Worcester and one with Hopefield on the West Coast.

“The course equipped the participants with the necessary knowledge, skills and practical guidelines to serve as VOLK shooting instructors. They can now act as qualified range officers and provide shooting training safely to their respective neighbourhood watches,” says Crous.

According to Crous, the training is aimed at strengthening communities from within. “When people are willing to set aside time to learn new skills and share them with others, we build stronger, more self-reliant communities. The enthusiasm and dedication of this group were exceptional, and I look forward to seeing the difference they will make in their respective communities.”
