AfriForum mows approximately 2,7 hectares of grass and removes 84 bags of refuse in Chrissiesmeer

During September, AfriForum’s Chrissiesmeer branch moved approximately 2,7 hectares of grass at the historic church, the cemetery and along the N17, while also removing 84 bags of refuse. This brings the total number of refuse bags removed by the branch during the first nine months of the year to 703. This work forms part of the branch’s ongoing efforts to keep the town clean and maintain sites of local importance and is a response to the Msukaligwa Local Municipality’s inadequate service delivery.

Millicent van den Heever, Chairperson of this AfriForum branch, says maintaining these sites is also a way for residents to care for their town and preserve its history.

“The church and cemetery are part of Chrissiesmeer’s history and deserve to be looked after. By mowing the grass and removing refuse, we show that residents are willing to take responsibility for their town. We want people to be proud of Chrissiesmeer and visitors to find a well-maintained town,” says Van den Heever.

The branch encourages residents and local businesses to get involved in its cleanup and maintenance projects. Contact Van den Heever (079 300 9402) for more information or visit www.wordlid.co.za.
