A defining moment in this relationship was when Kgosi<\/em> Moroka II came to the aid of the Voortrekkers after the Battle of Vegkop in 1836 by providing them with much-needed trek-oxen when they were in very dire straits and stranded on the battlefield after all their livestock were taken.
