The AfriForum branch in Witbank recently donated 137 trees to various schools and institutions in Witbank as part of the civil rights organisation\u2019s annual arbour month project. The branch also assisted in planting the trees.<\/p>\n
The branch paid a visit to the following schools and institutions: Ho\u00ebrskool Generaal Hertzog, Laerskool Panorama, HTS Witbank, Witbank SPCA, WH de Klerk Skool, Laerskool Kragbron, St. Thomas Aquinas School, Cambridge Witbank Christian Academy, Laerskool Klipfontein, Laerskool Tasbet, Oak Feathers Home, New Life Children\u2019s Home and Audeamus School.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo plant a tree is an act of faith for the future. When you plant a tree you do not know if you will enjoy the shade of the tree yourself, but you have belief that your children and grandchildren will indeed have the privilege,\u201d says Alf Friess, Chairperson of AfriForum\u2019s Witbank branch.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
\u201cThis year we would like to encourage communities across the country to also plant indigenous trees at their homes, schools, churches, community centres, old-age homes and parks during arbour month,\u201d says Bronwen Pretorius, AfriForum\u2019s District Coordinator for the Highveld.<\/p>\n
