The list contained more than 120 complaints and included cases of murder and rape, which are not investigated by the Hammanskraal Police Station, as no feedback has yet been provided. This follows the news that 280 murders that should have been investigated by the station have not yet resulted in a single conviction.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>AfriForum directed several requests to the local station in an effort to arrange meetings. The organisation also sent letters to the police on cluster, provincial and national level \u2013 but to no avail. If the station does not respond very soon, AfriForum will approach the Independent Police Investigation Directorate (IPID) for assistance; neither will AfriForum hesitate to approach the courts.<\/p>\n<p>There is currently no valid reason for the Hammanskraal Police Station to fail in their duties. AfriForum will continue to apply pressure to ensure that the community receives the necessary support.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt is worrisome that the Hammanskraal police is unwilling to investigate cases of murder and rape,\u201d says Hillel Coetzer, AfriForum\u2019s Head of Community Safety for the northern region.&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>AfriForum encourages the community to inform the organisation of cases that do not receive the necessary attention.
