AfriForum\u2019s neighbourhood watches in the Hennops River Valley, Moot, Meyerspark, Pretoria West and West Moot on 20\u00a0July\u00a02018 participated in the civil rights organisation\u2019s mass patrol in the Tshwane Metro in cooperation with the SAPS, community policing forums, various security companies and other safety institutions. <\/p>\n
The action started around 18:00 and continued until 6:00 the following morning. In total 154 patrollers from five AfriForum neighbourhood watches participated in the patrol using 69 vehicles. Patrollers covered more than 2\u00a0830\u00a0km in 403 man-hours and successfully handled 12 incidents in cooperation with the SAPS.<\/p>\n
\u201cDie patrollers handled an incident of domestic violence in cooperation with the SAPS, confiscated drugs and weapons, and battled fires, while AfriForum\u2019s Moot neighbourhood watch and the SAPS traced a vehicle that had been hijacked in Sunnyside,\u201d says Tiaan Oosthuizen, AfriForum\u2019s District Coordinator for Gauteng North.<\/p>\n
