The civil rights organisation AfriForum\u2019s Private Prosecuting Unit today supported the family of the missing Liyaqat (Lee) Mentoor during the bail application \u2013 which was submitted based on new facts \u2013 of Onke Mashinini, the accused, to ultimately ensure that justice is served.<\/p>\n
Lee was allegedly last seen outside his grandmother\u2019s house in Roodekrans on Friday 16\u00a0March\u00a02018.<\/p>\n
The Mentoor family approached AfriForum\u2019s Private Prosecuting Unit as they felt that the police have to date not properly investigated the matter to determine what happened to the three-year-old Lee.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe bail application was postponed until 18 July. We don\u2019t think that the postponement is negative, because this gives the police a further three weeks to continue with the investigation. We spoke to Brigadier Louw today and are confident that the case will now receive the necessary attention. We will, however, monitor the case and continue to support the family.
