The AfriForum branch in Paulpietersburg confirmed their cooperation with the South African Police Service (SAPS) on 16\u00a0February\u00a02017 by handing over a copy of the cooperative agreement that was signed on 16\u00a0January\u00a02017 between AfriForum and the SAPS in Centurion. The copy was presented to the Station Commander and Management of the Paulpietersburg station.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis agreement improves relations between communities and the SAPS and serves as encouragement to take part in crime prevention,\u201d says Alwin B\u00f6hmer, AfriForum\u2019s Safety Representative for Grootspruit.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese platforms empower communities to work in cooperation with the SAPS on a more formal level. We are excited to be part of this partnership and have been invited to a weekly meeting to discuss crime prevention,\u201d says Eugene van Aswegen, AfriForum\u2019s Provincial Coordinator for KwaZulu-Natal.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
This cooperative agreement further also awarded AfriForum a seat on the provincial committees that meet monthly at the SAPS Head Office in Durban.<\/p>\n
