AfriForum\u2019s MidWit neighbourhood team renovated two of the girls\u2019 bathrooms at Koornfontein Primary School as part of the civil rights organisation\u2019s renovation projects. This school, with its approximately 350 learners, was established in Komati in 1962.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hennie Bekker, AfriForum\u2019s District Coordinator for the Highveld, says the MidWit neighbourhood team stepped up to do repairs to the school\u2019s infrastructure. The cracks on the walls of the two bathrooms were filled, after which the walls were repainted. The neighbourhood team also washed and painted the ceilings as well as the door and window frames. AfriForum also replaced the curtains in both bathrooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAfriForum always promotes the well-being of learners and one of the ways this neighbourhood team has done this is by renovating this school\u2019s bathrooms,\u201d says Bekker.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

To help create a clean and orderly living environment, the MidWit neighbourhood team in Emalahleni (Witbank) cut and cleaned more than two hectares of grass. Various areas were cleaned, including the park in Judy Street as well as the footbridge in Longtom Street, where grass stood higher than 1,5 m on both sides of the footpath. A total of 32 bags of rubbish were also removed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Emalahleni Local Municipality\u2019s public spaces are not maintained in any way. The MidWit neighbourhood team does not shy away from a challenge, which is why the team works hard to continuously cut and clean up the long grass,\u201d says Sarel van Heerden, Chairperson of AfriForum\u2019s Witbank branch.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

In Middelburg, the neighbourhood team cut and cleaned more than five hectares of grass, including a variety of parks in, among others, Pongola Avenue. A total of 37 bags of rubbish were also picked up and removed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
