AfriForum’s Community Safety Centre in Bloemfontein recorded a total of 99 emergency activations in July, which is a testament to the Centre’s efficiency, professionalism and commitment to community safety. The Centre operates 24/7 and is a critical pillar of local security.

During July, the Centre assisted with 5 arrests in cooperation with law enforcement and security partners; managed and contained 14 fire emergencies with rapid response coordination; responded to 3 house robberies/break-ins with immediate support; assisted with 20 medical emergencies where first responders played a vital support role; intercepted 1 vehicle hijacking; and assisted with 99 vehicle activations by AfriForum’s response units in Bloemfontein.

These figures reflect the growing need for reliable community-based safety structures, as well as the effectiveness of AfriForum’s integrated model that combines advanced technology, rapid response and community cooperation.

“Every activation tells a story – a family in distress, a fire stopped just in time or a criminal taken off our streets. The Bloemfontein Community Safety Centre is an example of what can be achieved when communities take ownership of their safety. We are proud of our team and the local volunteers who continue to make Bloemfontein a safer place to live,” says Jacques Broodryk, AfriForum’s Chief Spokesperson for Community Safety.

The Centre works closely with registered private security partners like Forum Sekuriteit, AfriForum’s local neighbourhood watches, emergency services and law enforcement agencies to ensure fast and coordinated responses to incidents.

AfriForum urges residents of Bloemfontein and surrounding areas to get involved in local safety structures and join the growing movement of active citizens making a difference.

AfriForum is already in the process of establishing community safety centres in other parts of the country.
