AfriForum continues to monitor Germiston’s water problems, even though water is currently clean
Germiston’s water is safe for human consumption.
The AfriForum branch in Germiston recently tested water samples due to community concerns about a strange smell and dirty appearance of the water in certain areas. The test results showed that the water is indeed safe.
Although some residents have experienced water quality issues, it is possible that there were temporary impurities in the pipes that have since worked their way through. Nevertheless, AfriForum’s Germiston branch has purchased additional water quality testing kits and will continue to test water regularly should any further concerns arise.
According to Jurie Ferreira, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the East Rand, the Germiston community has been struggling with water problems for some time, including regular water interruptions, or water shedding, in certain areas.
“The ongoing water problems in Germiston are a major source of frustration for residents. AfriForum’s Germiston branch is taking it upon themselves to monitor the water quality. We want to reassure the community that we continue to fight for better water services and, in the meantime, are proactive in ensuring that residents’ health is not compromised,” says Ferreira.
AfriForum encourages the community to report any unusual changes in water quality so that they can be promptly investigated.
