AfriForum will soon kick off the second phase of renovation along the N2

The second phase of the renovation of a safety barricade along the N2 highway between Plettenberg Bay and Knysna will soon kick off. In this phase of renovation, AfriForum’s Knysna branch intends to repair approximately 230 metres of the barricade.

This project was started in November last year and the first phase, during which almost 110 metres of this barricade was repaired, was completed by the middle of December. Repair costs of phase one have already amounted to approximately R16 000. The project will be undertaken in four phases.

AfriForum’s Knysna branch tackles this project in collaboration with the local non-profit organisation Revive Knysna. These two groups are now joining forces and planning to undertake many more projects in and around this beloved town.

According to Marthinus Erasmus, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the Southern Cape, these projects aim to encourage the community to take ownership of their town and stop decay and deterioration.

“At AfriForum we believe in doing it ourselves,” says Erasmus. “We are not going to wait for someone else to do it – we will intervene ourselves and improve our communities.”
